Message: Jimmy, I had the pleasure of hearing you play and meeting you here in Columbus last fall when you did your show with Tony Monaco. Your groovin' style has been VERY influential to me as a B3 player. I first heard your music as a kid on late night Cleveland television back in the 70's watching horror movie hosts as they played your music often on their shows when reading letters from fans, etc..."Turn Blue", "I've Got a Woman", were played very often. Might still be for all I know! I didn't know who it was playing that B3, but when I started studying your music years later....then I knew! What more can I say other than "thanks" for all the good music over the years and now. Sincerely

Message: I was really impressed by one thing that Mr McGriff said to me when I asked him about the new Hammonds the last time he came to Austin-he said these instruments are like Steinways. That really made an impression on me and the way that I approach the organ. I mean I know jazz organists have immense talent and that that have worked their whole lives for their art, but when he told me that, it REALLY hit me, and I knew what I had to do. Thanks for making it really clear for me! I really appreciate his gospel-blues style, what he says about being influenced by his time at the church, this is really clear. I've seen him several xs in Austin, I hope I get to see him play a church service sometime. <
